Inside the stores, the dedicated shelf space for fresh food is growing month-on-month and whats more the affordable price tag is the driving force behind sales. Bulk-buy products are back in fashion and private labels are developing without precedent. All on top of the  traditional range of products.

Innovations, even if small, in product, packaging, distribution or communication are visible. 

Taking all this into consideration to be the general picture of the retail market, at HiperCom our next step is to take this and combine it with a careful analysis to seek out the trends in retailers promotion about bulk fruit and vegetables.

This dashboard view shows the most promoted choice over the past five years. If we assume that we don't promote strawberries in winter we have a lead about seasonality and by consequence these products are in a strong competition (because if you are the only one selling mangos or kiwis on the market, you can set the price you want - with any benchmark possible). Comparing apples with apples seems like the appropriate expression!

But this isn't a usual occurrence and so we look at competition and then the retailer that gives the best deal.

Without giving too much away this report demonstrates the retailer that was able to own the appropriate choice product of the month at the right price... and his fellow retailers a bit further behind.

For the first two months of the year we can see than the spread between the best offer and the four to six followers reducing year-after-year. But can we expect pricing to be strategised with more sharpness recently than six years ago?

We can also observe that the best deals are not always at the same retailer, because the retail environment is in constant transformation in RUSSIA and nobody was able to offer the best deal for the complete period. Soon we will be able to see if one retailer is able to offer the best deal in many, many months in sequence.
